In order to get to school in the mornings, I depend on a district-provided bus system that picks me up from near where I live and takes me to a hub station. From there, I catch a second bus (referred to as a shuttle) which takes me to my school.
On tuesday of this week, my bus that picks me up from near school was a little late. As a result, I was a little late to the hub station. The bus driver called in on the radio to say he was going to be late so that the shuttles wouldn't leave. But lo and behold, my shuttle left before I even stepped off my first bus. As a result, I had to wait an hour for an extra bus to come and take me to my high school. I ended up spending one hour sitting around waiting for the bus, and missing an hour of class time.
As infuriating as that was, today someone else ended up missing the shuttle as it left our hub station. This time it was only one kid (I'd been stranded with a friend of mine, as well as one other guy who goes to a different school in the same building) and the bus turned around, went back, and got him.
While I have nothing against the bus turning around for the kid, I have to ask something: why did the bus turn around for that one kid, and not for us three? WHY? It's kind of annoying. It would have been no more trouble for the driver to do that when there were three of us on tuesday. And it would have saved an entire bus-ride, as well as prevented the waste of an hour.
Ok... got that out there... now, deep breaths. In... Out... phew....
