Another Walk

So we went for another walk yesterday, and we came across a couple of very interesting things.  The first is called a Martello tower.  These towers were meant as lookout points from the times of the Napoleonic Wars in the early nineteenth century, but have since been abandoned (as far as functional use goes) because, with the rifled artillery, they became obsolete.  A lot of them, however, are still maintained as historical landmarks, monuments, etc.  I got to walk right by a couple of them, and so you know about what some of them look like, here's a picture!

The second interesting things was a very different kind of interesting thing.  What I saw was an NYPD police cruiser parked on the side of the coastal road.  No joke, a Crown Vic with NYPD livery just siting on the side of the road.  I got a glimpse of the inside of the car: it was left-hand drive, so it was legitimately an American car!  It was really just kind of funny for me to see it.
